## Meaning

WFH stands for "work from home": working from your home instead of the office for the day.

WFH became everyday workplace English after 2020. People use it as a status ("WFH today"), as a policy ("our WFH policy") and even as a verb in casual chat ("I'm WFH-ing tomorrow"). In hybrid teams it is often paired with WFO, "work from office". It is written far more than spoken; in a meeting you would usually say "I'm working from home today."

## When you hear it

A teammate sets their Slack status to "WFH" and you are not sure if they will join the office lunch.

## Examples

- **in a Slack status:** "WFH today: on Slack and Zoom all day."
- **in a team meeting:** "Most of the team is WFH on Fridays, so let's keep that day meeting-light."
- **in a job posting:** "Hybrid role: three office days and two WFH days per week."

## What native speakers say

- "WFH today, ping me on Slack."
- "I'm working from home tomorrow because of the plumber."
- "We have two WFH days a week."

## Common mistakes

- ✗ "I am in WFH today." → ✓ "I am WFH today. / I'm working from home today." (Do not add "in". WFH works like an adjective here.)
- ✗ "Tomorrow I will do WFH from my office." → ✓ "Tomorrow I will work from the office." (WFH always means home. For the office, say WFO or "in the office".)
- ✗ "Can I take a WFH?" → ✓ "Can I work from home on Friday?" (WFH is not a countable thing you "take". Ask to work from home on a day.)

## Be careful

WFH is casual shorthand. Write it out ("working from home") with clients or in formal documents.

## Word forms
