When engineers set up monitoring, they configure tools and alerts to track metrics like CPU usage, memory, response times, error rates, and user activity. Monitoring is used throughout the software lifecycle: during development for performance testing, in production to maintain system health, and during incident response to understand what went wrong. Handle with care. Do not confuse with just checking something once. Monitoring implies continuous observation over time. Also avoid saying monitor as a gerund when you mean the act of supervising.
