They make architectural decisions, review code, mentor junior developers, and solve complex technical problems. Tech leads are typically the most experienced engineers on their team and are responsible for ensuring code quality and system design. In some organizations, a tech lead may also have people management responsibilities, but the core role is technical leadership. This role is common in software companies, startups, and tech departments.
