Free Vocabulary Journal and Notebook

Type a word you just met. Your journal fills in the meaning, a tech example, a translation in your language, synonyms and antonyms.

Up to 8 words or phrases at a time, separated by commas or new lines.

Your journal is empty. Add a word and each row fills in: definition, a tech example, a translation in your language, part of speech, three synonyms and three antonyms. Mark each word red, orange or green as you learn it. Words stay in this browser.

Want the words to come back until they stick? A free account adds a daily review and 600+ tech vocabulary flashcards.

FAQ

Questions

What is a vocabulary journal?

A vocabulary journal (or vocabulary notebook) is your own list of new words with the meaning, an example sentence and a translation. Writing words down in one place, then coming back to them, is one of the simplest ways to remember them.

What should I write in a vocabulary notebook for each word?

The word, a short definition, an example sentence from your own field, a translation into your language, the part of speech, and two or three synonyms and antonyms. This journal fills all of these in for you, so you can spend the time using the word.

Can I get translations in my native language?

Yes. Pick your language (Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Hindi, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Turkish and more) and every new word comes with two to four common translations.

Can I use it as a vocabulary tracker in Google Sheets?

Yes. Use Copy for Google Sheets and paste into a sheet: each field lands in its own column. You can also download a CSV for Excel, Notion or Anki.

Is the vocabulary journal free?

Yes. 100% free, no sign up. Your words are saved in this browser. A free Speak Tech English account adds flashcards and a daily review so words come back until they stick.
