WIP

In simple English

WIP is one of the most frequently used terms in tech workplaces because development is a continuous process of building, testing, and refining. When you mark something as WIP, you are signaling to your team that the work is incomplete and should not be merged, shipped, or used in production yet. This helps prevent errors and miscommunication. You will hear WIP used in pull requests, project management tools like Jira, Kanban boards, and daily standups. For example, a developer might say their pull request is still WIP, meaning they are still making changes and it is not ready for code review. In agile teams, WIP limits are used to ensure the team does not take on too much work at once, which improves efficiency and quality.

What does WIP mean in software development, and how is it used in everyday work?

"Our WIP limit is 8 items per developer, so we need to finish some tasks before starting new ones."

Don't say this
